Hardiness Resilience Gauge

The Hardiness Resilience Gauge™ (HRG) is grounded in over 30 years of research and development and provides valuable insight into an individual’s level of hardiness and their ability to cope with stressful and unexpected situations.

Hardiness is defined as a set of characteristics that influence how people see the world and make sense of experiences, especially disruptive or stressful ones. Psychologists and researchers began studying hardiness in the hopes of identifying the characteristics of people who remain healthy and perform well when faced with stressful circumstances.

The Hardiness Resilience Gauge, which is comprised of a set of multi-dimensional questions that aim to determine the three C’s of hardiness:

Challenge

Challenge

Challenge: Seeing change and novelty as exciting and as an opportunity for you to learn and grow. A desire to be adventurous and explore, a motivation to learn and grow from failures and the ability to be flexible and adapt.

Control

Control

Control: Having a sense of self-efficacy and the belief that you can influence outcomes in your life. A belief that managing life is always possible.

commitment

Commitment

Commitment: Being engaged and seeing most parts of your life as meaningful and interesting. A sense of purpose gained through things like family, work and friends and the ability to assess and stay motivated.

On my blog

Originally, hardiness was thought to be a personality trait that remains unchanged throughout a person’s life. Today, we know it to be a coachable set of qualities. With the Hardiness Resilience Gauge, individuals will gain specific information on the unique interplay of the three C’s in managing stress.
